The Struggle to Survive & the Struggle to Create

A thought flashed through my mind the other day: Isn’t it funny how the struggle to survive while creating turns into the struggle to create while surviving?
Whether a sculpture, composer, or filmmaker, most creative folks start off scrambling to secure themselves financially just enough to work on their craft. Then, after a few years of laboring away for others, they find themselves struggling to find the time and chutzpah to create their own work.
I’m not exactly sure why this happens to be the case so often, but I suspect Life has something to do with it. Nonetheless, ever since my flash of insight, I’ve been taking my time to create a lot less for granted…
