It’s a Wrap!

7 Sep

It’s official: we have successfully filmed Girlfriend 19. Our final scene was shot last Thursday night at around 11PM.

Rather than attempt to update the blog during production, I thought it would be fun to wait and announce the great news. In the coming days, I will share many more photos and, hopefully, clips unveiling all that we did.

Overall, our production was extremely efficient, smooth and, most importantly, safe. We all had a ton of fun with lots of mutual respect and professionalism on-set. I’m very excited to update this blog with a ton of details.

In the meantime, please check out a few photos below. And please continue to check back often for exciting updates. Remember: you can receive updates via email by subscribing in the box at the top-right corner of this page.

Guillaume Dabin-Pons takes a break during one of his very demanding scenes.

Heidi applies make-up on Cassidy, who plays Bethany, the lead role.

Our director of photography, Gavin, hard at work.

We had to be very creative with camera placement in our tiny location (note the camera in the cupboard!).

I love this shot: everyone in their element!

Chris Ivan Cevic as Rob with Cassidy as Bethany.

Our awesome team taking a moment...

I'm watching the action with Jennifer, my co-producer and assistant director.

Chris during one of his favorite scenes!

Macha, my phenomenal production designer and all-around crew member, with Heidi!

That's me, doing a little housekeeping - j/k - we actually have a scene with a vacuum!

I saw your short movie after closing the concession stand last Saturday. I really liked the reveal of the girl’s grandmother, who she was taking care of all this time.

Plust the fact that there was no dialogue… I’ve done a few student movies at school, and I’ve always strived to have little or no dialogue. (Though at times its obivous to use, we’re not mimes ;p)

Anyways, goodluck on your project and hope it gets the attention of big movie makers!

Good to see you the other night, Ivan and thanks for checking out my site! Yeah, the reveal of the grandmother is nice. Jasmin & Josephine is really a formalistic exercise and the really “boring” stuff in the beginning is very intentional, that way, the payoff is nice….

I love nondialogue films and they’re very hard to make, which is why I think they are rare. I’d love to see your stuff, so let me know if they’re every online!

      See you at the Egyptian….

Woo Hoo! Yeah, I’m totally excited too! It’s weird: I’m the writer, director & producer, yet, even I don’t know how it’ll turn up in the end – LOL

CONGRATULATIONS CHRIS! Great photos… I love how you all look like you really enjoyed the experience. Especially you! Please keep us updated with your post filming efforts. I really want to see this movie…I think it’s going to be phenomenal!

    • Christopher September 7, 2010 at 9:20 am #

Thank you very much, Carin! Yes, we all really enjoyed the process. That’s something I’m quite proud of, actually. Many film sets end up being chock-full of ego and stress; however, we were all respectful and kind to one another, so it made for a really good experience all around!

I really appreciate your enthusiasm and support!

Congratulations :) I look forward to further updates as well as the final product when it’s completed the editing process! Looks like lots of hard work was rewarded.

    • Christopher September 7, 2010 at 9:17 am #

Very rewarding, indeed, Ryan. We had a very tight schedule, so there was not a lot of “down time.” But it kept us busy and the days moving…
