7 Films in 7 Weeks Begins Today

7 Jul

For the next seven weeks, I will be making one film per week.

Each project will start on a Thursday and end with a screening of the film on the following Wednesday.  I will randomly draw a Greek personification spirit each Thursday to serve as my inspiration for that week’s film.  As a result, every film will be written and produced within one week.

My jar containing 16 Greek spirits on paper, which I will randomly draw from each week!

My primary purpose for this project is to cultivate my craft and voice as a director.  Filmmakers rarely make films due to the complexities of traditional filmmaking; however, my stripped-down production approach (e.g., 1 location, 1-2 actors), enables me to make one film per week with a focus on directorial execution and personal expression.  I do not believe craft is based on resources, rather it is built upon innovation, ingenuity and vision.  Give David Lynch or the Coen Brothers one actor in one room and they’ll come up with something interesting, guaranteed!

The first of 7 films will be posted here on FollowMyFilm.com this Wednesday, July 13th!  If you haven’t done so, please subscribe to this blog on the top-right to receive posts via email.

Seriously? :-o How can one direct a movie within a week? The story needs to be very much creative. Anyway, I’m already subscribed so I’m just looking forward to the first film of the series.

Hey, Sajib. Good to hear from you. Believe me, I’m going to keep my films very, very simple in terms of production; that’s the only way I’ll be able to do it!

And thank you so much for being a subscriber of my blog – that really is the best support!
